It was a privilege to be invited by Tauranga’s Indian community to their Diwali and Annakut Celebrations last night.
In addition to welcoming in the ‘festival of lights’ (held during the period October to November), and honouring Lakshmi, the goddess of prosperity gmarking the beginning of the financial year in India), the celebrations were also focused on the spiritual and positive development of the youth within our community.
Big thanks to Bhavika Patel, Taj Singh Khattra and Annemarie Quill for the kind invitation and for so graciously including my mother, Val, in the celebrations.
